Bamboo rice is harvested out of dying bamboo shoots. It is a major source of income for tribal communities in the interior parts of Kerala and Tamilnadu.
Bamboo rice looks similar to paddy rice, but on the palette it resembles wheat. The protein content of this rice is much higher than both wheat and paddy rice.
